RAW Converter is an image conversion program that works with RAW image files. This program is able to convert RAW files into more usable file types that you can further edit with graphic design programs. While there are some restrictions, this program could be useful if you have the right camera.

Basic Features

RAW images, as the name suggests, is a type of image file that has no processing or compression. This is the preferred file type for professional photographers because it makes it easier to adjust color balance, white balance, shadow and many other factors to ensure the image is perfect. While RAW files are good, they tend to be large and unwieldy once you're finished with the initial edit. That's why you need to convert them.

RAW Converter is able to convert RAW images. There are two different output formats that you can choose from. You can make the file either JPEG or TIFF. JPEG tends to be smaller and works better with other programs while TIFF has better quality. While these two file formats are useful, some people might be disappointed there are only two output formats.

Camera Restrictions

Almost every digital camera shoots images in the RAW format. You might think that RAW Converter would support any digital camera as long as they have RAW images, but that isn't the case. This program currently only supports Canon EOS cameras. If you own one, then this should be perfectly fine. It integrates well with the camera. Simply connect the camera to your computer and the converter will get to work.

If you don't have a Canon EOS camera, then you can't use this program. There isn't a workaround. This lack of versatility might prevent some users from downloading RAW Converter.

Batch Conversion

If you have dozens or hundreds of image, then you might be dreading the conversion process. You don't want to select each image one-by-one until you're finished. That would take forever and there's always a chance you might miss one.

RAW Converter actually has a batch conversion feature that allows you to convert many RAW images at once. This is handy because you can select all the files and then get back to your life. The processing is fairly fast, so it shouldn't take too long until all the images are converted.

Simple User Interface

RAW Converter has a simple user interface that takes seconds to learn. While there are only a limited number of features, the user interface is streamlined and makes it easy to use each tool. There is a tab for adding images, select the output format and quality and another tab for checking the conversion process. Not only that, but the tabs are large and easy to read.

If you want a simple program that isn't bogged down with dozens of tools that you may never use, then RAW Converter might be right for you. It's straightforward approach makes it a user-friendly program.
